You can easily explore them during the day and still return to Lagos in time for dinner or a sunset walk along the marina.\nAfter living in the Algarve for many years, these are <strong data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"777\">some of my favorite day trips from Lagos<\/strong>.\n<h2>\n\t\t\t1. Sagres\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/aerial-view-of-farol-do-cabo-de-sao-vicente-a-beautiful-lighthouse-on-the-cliff-at-sunset-facing-the-ocean-sagres-algarve-region-portugal-AAEF13299.jpg\" alt=\"Aerial view of Farol do Cabo de Sao Vicente, a beautiful lighthouse on the cliff at sunset facing the ocean, Sagres, Algarve region, Portugal.\" height=\"924\" width=\"1232\" title=\"Aerial view of Farol do Cabo de Sao Vicente, a beautiful lighthouse on the cliff at sunset facing the ocean, Sagres, Algarve region, Portugal.\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tSagres is one of the <strong data-start=\"861\" data-end=\"913\">most historic and dramatic places in the Algarve<\/strong>.\nLocated at the southwestern tip of Portugal, this area was historically linked to the <strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1024\">Age of Discoveries<\/strong>, when Prince Henry the Navigator helped launch Portugal&#8217;s maritime exploration.\nStart your visit at the <strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1149\">Sagres Fortress<\/strong>, where you can walk along the cliffs and enjoy incredible ocean views.\nAfter that, spend some time at one of the nearby beaches. My favorites are:\n<ul data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1429\">\n<li data-section-id=\"17gmzcl\" data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1344\">\n<strong data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1320\">Praia da Mareta<\/strong> &#8211; calm and accessible\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1h5m1q9\" data-start=\"1345\" data-end=\"1429\">\n<strong data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1367\">Praia do Beliche<\/strong> &#8211; one of my personal favorites, surrounded by dramatic cliffs\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nIf the weather is clear, you should absolutely stay for the <strong data-start=\"1491\" data-end=\"1524\">sunset at Cabo de S\u00e3o Vicente<\/strong>. It&#8217;s considered one of the <strong data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1591\">most famous sunsets in the Algarve<\/strong>.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1646\">35 km (about 35 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t2. Burgau\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/969da4_1e9c288cb87c4de49032315e1e2feabbmv2.avif\" alt=\"969da4_1e9c288cb87c4de49032315e1e2feabb~mv2\" height=\"505\" width=\"750\" title=\"969da4_1e9c288cb87c4de49032315e1e2feabb~mv2\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tBurgau is a <strong data-start=\"1720\" data-end=\"1745\">small fishing village<\/strong> located just west of Lagos.\nMany people call it the <strong data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"1826\">&#8220;Santorini of Portugal&#8221;<\/strong> because of its white houses cascading down the hillside toward the sea.\nThe village is quiet, charming and perfect for a relaxed afternoon.\nYou can walk through the narrow streets, have lunch in one of the small restaurants and then spend some time at <strong data-start=\"2081\" data-end=\"2100\">Praia do Burgau<\/strong>, a beautiful and protected beach surrounded by cliffs.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2209\">10 km (about 15 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t3. Arrifana\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ArrifanaPortugal.webp\" alt=\"Arrifana+Portugal\" height=\"1601\" width=\"2400\" title=\"Arrifana+Portugal\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tPraia da Arrifana is one of the <strong data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2365\">most impressive beaches on the west coast of the Algarve<\/strong>.\nThe scenery here is dramatic: a huge bay surrounded by steep cliffs and powerful Atlantic waves. It&#8217;s also a very popular place for <strong data-start=\"2500\" data-end=\"2511\">surfing<\/strong>.\nEven if you don&#8217;t surf, it&#8217;s worth visiting just for the views.\nOne place I always recommend is <strong data-start=\"2611\" data-end=\"2622\">Ti Raul<\/strong>, a small restaurant\/bar located high on the cliffs with an incredible view over the ocean.\nIt&#8217;s the perfect place to enjoy a <strong data-start=\"2749\" data-end=\"2784\">drink while watching the sunset<\/strong>.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"2811\" data-end=\"2839\">50 km (about 50 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t4. Ferragudo\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/PraiaGrde-4563P-1.jpg\" alt=\"Capturefile: D:CF004563.TIF\nCaptureSN: CM010257.004563\nSoftware: Capture One DB for Windows\" height=\"878\" width=\"1200\" title=\"PraiaGrde-4563P-1\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tFerragudo is one of the <strong data-start=\"2928\" data-end=\"2969\">most charming villages in the Algarve<\/strong>.\nLocated near Portim\u00e3o, this traditional fishing village still maintains a very authentic atmosphere.\nThe village center is built around a small square with <strong data-start=\"3129\" data-end=\"3154\">restaurants and caf\u00e9s<\/strong>, making it a perfect place for lunch.\nAfter exploring the village, I recommend visiting one of the nearby beaches like <strong data-start=\"3275\" data-end=\"3296\">Praia da Angrinha<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"3300\" data-end=\"3316\">Praia Grande<\/strong>.\nBoth offer beautiful views across the river toward Portim\u00e3o.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"3405\" data-end=\"3433\">30 km (about 30 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t5. Praia da Luz\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/praiadaluz.jpg\" alt=\"praiadaluz\" height=\"1138\" width=\"1200\" title=\"praiadaluz\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tPraia da Luz is a <strong data-start=\"3519\" data-end=\"3578\">beautiful seaside village just a few minutes from Lagos<\/strong>.\nIt has a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely <strong data-start=\"3622\" data-end=\"3684\">seafront promenade filled with caf\u00e9s, restaurants and bars<\/strong>.\nThe beach is wide and perfect for swimming, and on the western side you&#8217;ll see the famous <strong data-start=\"3777\" data-end=\"3792\">Rocha Negra<\/strong>, a large volcanic rock formation that dominates the landscape.\nOne of the best things to do here is simply <strong data-start=\"3901\" data-end=\"3966\">sit at a beach bar and enjoy a drink while watching the ocean<\/strong>.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"3993\" data-end=\"4020\">8 km (about 10 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t6. Albufeira\t<\/h2>\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/algarveaventuras.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/albufeira.jpg\" alt=\"albufeira\" height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" title=\"albufeira\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n\tAlbufeira is one of the <strong data-start=\"4109\" data-end=\"4160\">most famous tourist destinations in the Algarve<\/strong>.\nThe old town is built on a hill above the beach and is full of <strong data-start=\"4226\" data-end=\"4267\">restaurants, shops and lively streets<\/strong>.\nIt&#8217;s a great place to walk around, explore the small alleys and have dinner in one of the many restaurants overlooking the sea.\nFor those who enjoy nightlife, Albufeira is also where <strong data-start=\"4454\" data-end=\"4475\">the party happens<\/strong>. The city is famous for its bars and clubs that stay open late into the night.\n\ud83d\udccd Distance from Lagos: <strong data-start=\"4580\" data-end=\"4608\">60 km (about 50 minutes)<\/strong>\n<h2>\n\t\t\t7.
