If you’re visiting Lagos, one thing is certain: you’ll want to spend plenty of time at the beach.<\/p>\n

Lagos is famous for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, with golden cliffs, turquoise water and hidden coves that look like something out of a postcard.<\/p>\n

After living here for more than 10 years, I’ve spent countless days exploring these beaches in every season. Some are perfect for calm swimming, others are great for long walks, and a few are hidden spots that many tourists never discover.<\/p>\n

So here are my personal Top 10 beaches in Lagos.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t1. Praia do Camilo\t<\/h2>\n

Beauty is subjective, but for me Praia do Camilo is the most beautiful beach in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The beach is surrounded by cliffs and is very well protected, so the water is usually calm and crystal clear.<\/p>\n

To reach it, you need to go down a long wooden staircase, but the view from the top is absolutely stunning.<\/p>\n

During the summer there is a small beach bar selling drinks, usually with great music and a friendly atmosphere.<\/p>\n

However, there is something important to know: this is a very small beach.<\/p>\n

In the middle of summer it can become extremely crowded, sometimes to the point where there is almost no space to sit.<\/p>\n

My tip:<\/p>\n

Meia Praia is the longest beach in Lagos, stretching for several kilometers.<\/p>\n

It’s also one of my personal favorites.<\/p>\n

My favorite area is the eastern side of the beach. Go near the Por do Sol restaurant, then walk along the boardwalks as far east as possible. This part of the beach is quieter and mostly frequented by locals and families.<\/p>\n

The water here is usually very clean, and it’s a perfect place for long walks.<\/p>\n

You can also stay near the western side, close to the harbor breakwater. This area is more lively and closer to the city center.<\/p>\n

From the historic center you can even take the small water taxi that crosses the marina channel.<\/p>\n\u26a0\ufe0f Important tip:
\nMeia Praia is very exposed to the wind.\n

Before going, check the forecast on sites like Windguru. If there is a north wind above 15 knots, the beach can become quite uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

This is often considered the locals’ beach in Lagos.<\/p>\n

On weekends you’ll see many residents spending the day here.<\/p>\n

During the summer, the water here is often slightly warmer than at other beaches in Lagos.<\/p>\n

Another advantage is that the beach is well protected from the north wind, which is very common in the Algarve during summer, especially in August.<\/p>\n

Because of this, Porto de M\u00f3s is one of the best beaches to visit on windy days.<\/p>\n

If you go there, I recommend walking to the western side of the beach, where the cliffs provide extra protection from the wind.<\/p>\n

Praia Dona Ana is probably the most famous beach in Lagos.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, part of the beach is actually artificial, as sand has been added over the years.<\/p>\n

During the summer months, especially June to August, it can become quite crowded.<\/p>\n

The beach is located very close to Praia do Camilo and is surrounded by impressive rock formations rising from the sea.<\/p>\n

There is also a beach restaurant, where you can enjoy food and drinks with a great view.<\/p>\n

Praia Dona Ana also has water sports operators, and it is possible to book boat tours to the Ponta da Piedade caves from here.<\/p>\n

Because of its location, it is one of the most visited beaches by tourists.<\/p>\n

In reality, it is a group of three small beaches and coves, usually with calm and protected water.<\/p>\n

It can get quite crowded during summer, but it’s a great option if you want a quick swim close to town.<\/p>\n

It’s also a very nice spot to come late in the afternoon for sunset.<\/p>\n

You can reach it either through a small tunnel in the rocks or by using the staircase at the end of the road above.<\/p>\n

Praia dos Estudantes is famous for the stone bridge connecting the cliffs, making it one of the most photographed spots in Lagos.<\/p>\n

It’s very popular with younger visitors and local students, and the water here is usually very calm.<\/p>\n

However, like many small beaches in Lagos, it can also become quite crowded in summer.<\/p>\n

On days with very low tide, it’s possible to walk along the rocks between Praia do Pinh\u00e3o and Praia dos Estudantes.<\/p>\n

It’s a short walk but definitely worth doing.<\/p>\n

Getting there requires a short hiking trail, so access is not the easiest.<\/p>\n

But that’s exactly why the beach never gets very crowded, even during the peak of summer.<\/p>\n

The beach is surrounded by high cliffs and has a very wild and natural atmosphere.<\/p>\n\u26a0\ufe0f One thing to know:
\nThis beach is quite popular with naturists and nudists, so don’t be surprised if you see people enjoying the beach very freely.\n

It’s a beautiful beach and one that I personally visit often, since I live here.<\/p>\n

I recommend walking toward the western side of the beach, in the direction of the Rocha Negra, a large volcanic rock formation that dominates the landscape.<\/p>\n

Praia da Luz is popular with both locals and tourists, and it offers all kinds of services, including:<\/p>\n

water sports activities<\/p>\n

In the late afternoon, it’s also very nice to walk along the seafront promenade and enjoy a drink at one of the bars overlooking the ocean.<\/p>\n

However, getting there is not easy.<\/p>\n

Access is through a very steep trail down the cliffs, so it can be challenging.<\/p>\n

Because of that, I usually recommend it only for people who are used to hiking and have good physical condition.<\/p>\n

But if you make the effort, you’ll find one of the most untouched and peaceful beaches in Lagos.<\/p>\n
